On November 10, 2023 the SAM Unit of Khedive Temple No. 16 attended the Veteran’s Day Celebration Game for The New Orleans Pelicans G-League affiliated team The Birmingham Squadron’s basketball game. For our mentees not only was it a chance to enjoy the game of basketball, but also to get a history lesson on the sacrifices our men & women that serve in our nation’s military have made over the years. There were giveaways sponsored by the team as well as testimonials presented by the players of their interaction with family members that served to protect our country. All in all, this event provided a great vehicle by which we could teach our mentees the meaning of such great sacrifice, and also have an outstanding time fellowshipping with each other.
